Kiel-Schilksee is world-famous. In 1972, the Olympic sailing competitions were held here at the Olympiazentrum.
Since then, Schilksee has been at the sporting heart of the legendary Kieler Woche and many other international and national regattas.

Dear guests,
we are modernising for you! To ensure that you can continue to enjoy your stay in a relaxed manner, the cafeteria & kitchen area will be modernised from November 2023 to May 2024. During this period, we will not be able to offer you lunch and dinner. However, our overnight accommodation area as well as training room 100 in the athletes' house and the ground floor of the regatta house will be available to you to the usual extent.

Staying overnight at the Haus der Athlet*innen (House of Athletes)
Our Haus der Athleten provides accommodation for athletes, trainers, conference and training course participants as well as for all sorts of clubs, associations and charitable organisations.
It is situated in a central location at the Olympiazentrum Schilksee, houses the sports boarding school of the Olympiastützpunkt Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein (Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein Olympic training centre) and also offers single or double rooms with modern furnishings for up to 33 guests. Catering fit for athletes can be provided by the kitchen at the Haus der Athleten.
All rooms - with direct access to the terrace out front - have a unique view of the sports marina and Baltic Sea. This is the place to relax in style after strenuous training sessions or other activities without missing out on what is happening in the marina. The rooms are fitted with a small shower bath, toilet and spacious wardrobes. The beach, swimming pool, shops, cafés and restaurants are all close by.
Our guests can also make use of our cafeteria, a small conference room or our 60 square metre, fully-equipped classroom. The building has an external lift providing wheelchair access to the Haus der Athleten as well as to the row of shops along the Fliegender Holländer promenade.
Independently of your overnight stay, you can also hire the "Classroom 100" for your event.
Conferences, training courses & more at the Regattahaus (Regatta House)

Situated on the marina plaza of the Olympiazentrum Schilksee, close to the Haus der Athleten, is our Regattahaus with its large roof terrace and wonderful view of the sports marina.
The Regattahaus covers two floors and a total area of approximately 340 square metres. All rooms measuring from 16 to 140 square metres are filled with light, are wheelchair accessible and equipped with modern event technology.
The rooms on the ground floor and first floor can be used in varying sizes, which means we can offer you the right room for any event format.
We can also provide appropriate catering for your event by request. We are conscious of and careful with our use of natural resources here.
You can book the Regattahaus for your club, association or charitable organisation via our Infocenter.
Events at the Vaasahalle (Vaasa hall)
The Vaasahalle is a sporting and multi-purpose hall with a floor area of around 600 m². It is situated in a prominent location in the Olympiazentrum Schilksee looking out over the sports marina and the Baltic Sea.
Whether you are planning a trade fair, conference, exhibition, sports event or public event with seating or tables for up to 240 people, the Vaasahalle is very flexible.
The spacious foyer can be used as a cloakroom or as an extra exhibition space or event area, for example, for catering.
We set the multi-purpose hall up entirely according to your individual requirements.

The Olympiazentrum – one of Germany's largest Sportboothäfen (sports marina) – offers a unique maritime flair for beachgoers, swimmers from the Swimmhalle (swimming pool), walkers, conference and training course participants, cyclists, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. A visit to Schilksee can be rounded off with a well-balanced and nutritious meal or bite to eat.
The Olympiazentrum Schilksee is the national training centre of the German Sailing Federation (DSV) and with its sports boarding school, it is the Kiel office of the Olympiastützpunkt Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein (Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein Olympic training centre).
The Olympiazentrum Kiel-Schilksee, situated to the north of the Kiel Canal, is a historical sports location that continues to host national and international sports events today.
The foundation stone for the Olympiazentrum was laid back in 1969. Then, in 1972, the Olympic sailing competitions were held here. Kiel-Schilksee has since become the sporting heart of the legendary Kieler Woche and many other sailing regattas.

- By bus route 12 / 13 / X30 to the Olympiazentrum stop. Then you can walk along Starweg to the marina plaza, and go to the Haus der Athleten (House of Athletes) or the Regattahaus (Regatta House).

- Please do not park on the marina plaza - if you do you will have a parking ticket within the hour and may even be towed away. You will find plenty of free parking at theParkplatz „Tempest“ car park and from May to September - when no major events are taking place - at theParkplatz „Soling“ car park.

The Easter bonfire organized by the Schilksee and Strande volunteer fire departments takes place from 5 p.m. on the salt marshes at Soling 12.

In preparation for the regatta season, the German Sailing Association is organizing a practice weekend for regatta teams in cooperation with the Regatta Association for Sea Sailing.

MaiOR Regatta
The May Offshore Regatta takes place annually at the beginning of May in Kiel-Schilksee. It is the opening event for all ORC-International measured yachts, ORC-Club and Yardstick yachts. The crews of the J/70 also use the MaiOR to kick off the season.

YES Regatta
The Young Europeans Sailing, the largest youth regatta in Europe, attracts more than 650 young sailors to the Olympic harbor in Kiel-Schilksee every year. The young participants sail for victory in Strander Bucht. An attractive shore-based program also awaits the sailors and visitors.

Goldener Opti & Silberner Opti
This traditional regatta with several hundred participants has been taking place since 1968. The Optimist is just 2.30 m long. Children from the age of seven can learn to sail in this boat.

Kieler Woche
The Kiel Week is one of the world's largest sailing events. It offers regatta sailing at the highest level, internationality and a unique atmosphere. The Olympic Center Schilksee also offers entertainment, flair and an attractive event area for sailors and visitors.

World Championship of the 2.4mR class
A 2.4mR is a keelboat 4.18 m long and 0.81 m wide. This one-person boat is suitable for sailors of all ages and for all people who want to sail regattas with or without disabilities on an equal footing.

VR Banken Schleswig-Holstein Triathlon
Swimming, cycling and running - "eenmal quer röver" you would say in the language „Platt“. The official route would be from the Baltic Sea across Schleswig-Holstein to the North Sea. The exciting transition zone from swimming to cycling is in Kiel in the morning.

4th Kiel Fjord Marathon
The 4th Kiel Fjord Marathon is initially aimed at individual participants. However, two to four people can also share the running route in the relay marathon. The starting point in Laboe is reached after a short boat trip. After running a maximum of 42 kilometers, the finish line is in Schilksee between the Vaasahalle and the harbor. - 27 September

The ADH Trophy in sailing is a sailing regatta at national level for member universities of the General German University Sports Association.
